What to do When You Don’t Feel Like Going to the Gym…
How often do you wake up in the morning super-excited to go CRUSH your workout? If you’re anything like me, it’s probably anywhere from 0-5% of the time. NOT VERY OFTEN!
In contrast, how often do you wake up in the morning and just don’t feel like going to gym, much less having the motivation to go crush your workout? For me, that is a MUCH HIGHER percentage - probably around 10-20%
Thankfully, I’m at a place in my fitness journey where I can still get myself to the gym on those tough days. Mostly because of the amazing community at Xtra Mile Fitness, but also because I’ve put in the hard work to build my discipline muscle.
Well, yesterday was one of those days for me where getting out of bed was tough - I just wasn’t feeling it. I did, however, make it to the gym. I (barely) got through that workout. Dare I say that I ‘just’ went through the motions.
Depending on where you are in your journey, just showing up and going through the motions might be considered a WIN!
Everyone’s good days are GOOD, but what separates people is how good their BAD days are - can you still get to the gym when the stars aren’t aligned? Can you still muster up the mental strength to get out of bed and do SOMETHING?
I think a good rule of thumb is to ALWAYS DO SOMETHING. Or put another way, NEVER DO NOTHING. If you can get up and move for five minutes, chances are you’ll be able to continue on for much longer. Once the juices start flowing and the joints get lubed up, your mindset will likely change.
Regardless, I’m going to suggest a new strategy to you. No matter what…ALWAYS DO SOMETHING. Regardless if you have motivation or not, NEVER DO NOTHING!

NEVER DO NOTHING!
Think about that…SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING! And sometimes, SOMETHING is a big win!
But, NEVER DO NOTHING! :-)
To be successful in your transformation, its imperative to surround yourself with like-minded people that are going through the same struggles, have the same questions, understand your pain, etc.
It’s also incredibly helpful to have someone who has ‘been there, done that’ help lead you through the pitfalls of transformation so you can get the weight off once and for all.
