Personal Integrity

The most important thing in a transformation journey is personal integrity - period! There is nothing that is even a close second. How many promises have you broken to yourself? If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably broken a bazillion promises to yourself - especially promises involving fitness and nutrition.

Imagine if we actually did what we said we were going to do! We will generally keep our word to everyone else in our lives and show up for them, but we so easily break promises to our self! We put our kids, spouse, and friends first at our own expense. We rationalize and purposefully put ourselves last because we don’t want to be selfish.

Here’s the truth - if we don’t put ourselves first, we will never have a chance to give our best to those that we love the most! If we are constantly running on fumes, we will never have the fuel to give to the people that deserve our all. There is a reason why the airline attendant asks us to put our oxygen mask on first!

Think about the times when you felt best in your journey. I’m willing to bet that it’s when you were keeping your personal integrity. The scale moved because you kept your personal integrity. Your pants fit looser because you’ve been doing what you said you were going to do. You hit your calories and protein because you were intentional and made it happen.

Now think about the opposite - when you have felt the worst in your journey. I’m willing to bet that it’s when you didn’t do what you said you were going to do. “I’ll do it later” and later never comes. “I’ll start on Monday” and then we screw up by noon so we throw in the towel quickly. The alarm clock goes off at 5:30am and we hit snooze a dozen times. The list goes on and on. We can’t control the scale, but we can control our effort. When promises are kept, the needle moves and transformation keeps moving forward.

In my experience, that negative voice will always be chirping in our ear telling us to take the easy route that pulls us away from our goals. The more times we break our integrity, the easier it is to give in to that voice the next time. BUT, the same is true for the opposite, the more times we keep our integrity, the easier it is to keep our word the next time. We build confidence, grit, and mental toughness each time we keep our personal integrity in check.

Personal integrity is one of the most important topics that we teach in Larger Than Life Coaching. Let me know if you have any questions. This is my PASSION! I’d love to answer any questions you have. Let me know!
