Do Your Friends Do This?

You’ve heard the phrase that you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with, right?

Well, I want to tell you a quick story about my friend, Dan.  He is a great dad, husband, father and friend.  He leads by example and is the real deal.  He attends the class right before mine at CrossFit Xtra Mile.  He’s faster, stronger, younger, etc.  He whoops me on the regular, but every once in a while, I am able to beat him.  AND, when I do, I make sure he knows about it.

Yesterday, we did a famous WOD called Cindy.  It is a 20 minute AMRAP that consists of:

-          5 pull-ups

-          10 push-ups

-          15 air squats

I finished just shy of 12 rounds which was one of the leaders in my class and I felt good about it.  HOWEVER, later in the day, Dan sent me a message asking why my Cindy time was so slow!  I gave him my REAL excuse that I wasn’t very good at push-ups which is where I spent the majority of my time in that workout.

Dan wasn’t having any of my excuses.  He challenged me to get better at push-ups and shore up the weakness that has been plaguing me for years.  HE WAS RIGHT!  I was living with it and not making any attempt to get better!  My mindset was all wrong!

So I now have a plan to dominate push-ups, but that is not what this message is about.

It’s about Dan.  Do you have a “Dan” in your life?

  • Someone that constantly pushes you to get better?

  • Someone that leads by example and SHOWS you the game plan to dominate life?

  • Someone that doesn’t accept your excuses and challenges you to live up to your potential?

  • Someone that will pick you up when you’re feeling down?

  • Someone that is always injecting positivity in your life?

I am lucky enough to have numerous “Dan’s” in my life.  Some in business, fitness, family, and also my spiritual life.  It makes ALL the difference in the world!

If you’re looking around at the five people you spend the most time with and don’t see people that are leading by example and crushing life, I have several suggestions for you.

1.       Join our FREE “Living Larger Than Life” Facebook group.  There are hundreds of people that are chasing the best version of themselves inside that group.

2.       Join our “Larger Than Life” coaching group.  We have a unique, very hands on, team of coaches that have all had AMAZING transformations themselves!  We know the daily struggle and have been there, done that!  THERE IS NOTHING LIKE IT IN THE WORLD!

3.       Reach out to me directly!  I am super-passionate about helping people live their best lives.  I’m happy to answer your questions.  Let me know here!

I’m off to do some push-ups!  :-)
